Antara - breaking the link between poverty and mental illness

Founded in 1971, Antara is a non-profit organization with the mission of alleviating suffering of destitute and poor people afflicted with mental illness, addiction and alcoholism. While researchers debate whether poverty is a precursor to mental illness or vice versa,at Antara our primary objective is to make sure that our services reach out to those who need it most. Therefore a large number of the patients are treated at Antara at concessional rates or free of charge. We do not receive any government support or regular financial aid from any funding agency - our funds come in the form of donations, sponsorship and endowments from socially conscious and caring corporate houses and individuals all over the world.
